Write A Love Poem

Writing poems used to be my thing a few years ago. I would write about things happening around me and things I wondered about. I also wrote a few for my husband who was then my fiancé. I wondered why I just had a tough time writing poems after a few years of not writing any. Then, one day; I woke up at 4a.m, decided to write my hubby a poem and the words kept coming. Here is what I wrote:

More than I imagined
More than the words of my brain can express
More than I hoped for
His love for me, impressive.

When I need a friend
My heart to listen
His ears he lends
His lips, non-condemning.

When I need a lover
He is there for me
A loving companion
He is to me

Tired and discouraged
I sometimes can be
His loving comfort
My strength and courage

Secrets big or small
That lurk in my heart
I tell him all
He keeps in good faith

In sickness and health
Just as he vowed
His praying lips
His love does not cease

When fear and doubt
My dreams they mock
His love and touch
Confidence like a rock

Looks can deceive
Lips can lie
But your innocent eyes
My heart can trust

So much to say
Short of words to express
Your love, your care
Your faithful kiss

When beauty fades
And youth is past
Will I still be
Your only sweetheart?
Do you think my husband loved it? You bet he did. Women love words of affirmation and love their man to tell them words that communicate love and affection. We usually don’t think men love the same too. Well, they do. So tell the man you love today, tell him in words what he means to you. You don’t have to be a poet, your words don’t have to be smooth or sleek. They just need to be sincere, thoughtful and honest words. “Thank you for taking care of me and doing your best to make me comfortable”. That is short and simple enough. Many men long to hear words like that from their wife but don’t. Give your best shot and tell me how it went by leaving a comment below. All the very best!
